A.Ductility test R. Standard briquett mould
The ductility of bitumen is measured by the distance to which it will elongate before breaking
when a specimen is pulled apart at a specified speed and temperature. The specimen is
prepared using a standard briquette mould.
B. Flash and Fire point test S. Pensky-Martens closed test.
The Pensky-Martens closed tester is a standard
laboratory apparatus used to determine the flash and fire points of petroleum products,
including bitumen.
C.Softening test P. Ring and Ball test
The Ring and Ball apparatus is specifically used to determine the softening point of bitumen,
which indicates the temperature at which the material attains a particular degree of softening.
D. Penetration test Q. Penetrometer
A penetrometer is used to measure the consistency or hardness of bituminous materials by
determining the distance a standard needle penetrates vertically into the sample under known
conditions of loading, time, and temperature.
