Solution

According to Bowditch Rule (Compass Rule), the closing errors in latitude and departure are distributed among the traverse

sides in proportion to their lengths.

The correction for any side is calculated as:

 

Where:

CL= Correction in latitude

CD = Correction in departure

eL = Total closing error in latitude

eD = Total closing error in departure

l = Length of the side

P = Perimeter of the traverse

The negative sign indicates that the correction is applied opposite to the closing error.
