Stoneware :

• Stoneware is made from a particular clay which is fired at a higher temperature of 1200°c means refractory clays.
• This results in a more durable material, with a denser, stone like quality.
• The finished product will be waterproof and unlike earth-ware, does not need to be glazed.

Porcelain :

• Made from kaolin (China clay), Silicate mineral. It is used to make cups, plates, decoration etc.

Terracotta :

• It is made of a clay or silt matrix, a fluxing agent and grog or bits.

Earthenware :

• Pottery that has not been fired to the point of vitrification and is thus slightly porous and coarser than stoneware and porcelain.
