Statement A is true
Low-heat cement is manufactured by reducing the proportion of tricalcium aluminate (C3A
and usually also C3S) while increasing the proportion of dicalcium silicate (C2S). This lowers
the heat of hydration, making the cement suitable for mass concreting (dams, large
foundations, etc.).
Statement B is false
Rapid-hardening cement (also called high-early-strength cement) is produced by increasing
the amount of tricalcium silicate (C3S) and grinding the cement more finely. Higher C3S
content gives rapid early strength development. Decreasing C3S would slow down strength
gain, which is the opposite of what is required.
