Ghatiyala Inscriptions: Dating to 861 CE (Vikram Samvat 918), these inscriptions are engravedon a pillar in the village of Ghatiyala, located 20 miles from Jodhpur district. They extol the virtues of the Pratihara ruler Kakkuka—describing him as a just, courageous, and valiant king dedicated to the welfare of his subjects—and provide his genealogy (tracing the lineage from Rohilliddhi to Kakkuka). The inscriptions are composed in both Sanskrit and Prakrit. They also make mention of the 'Mag' (or Maga) caste of Brahmins. The text was authored by a member of the Mag community, while the engraving was executed by a goldsmith named Krishneshvara; the entire project was commissioned by Kakkuka. These individuals are known as Shakadvipiya Brahmins, who lived under the patronage of the Oswal community.
