Several changes were introduced under the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Act,

2019. These included reducing the tenure of the Chairperson and members of the State

Human Rights Commission from five years to three years or until the age of 70. A provision

for the re appointment of the Chairperson and members was added, and High Court judges

became eligible to serve as Chairperson. However, the provision for one Chairperson and two

members already existed; this was not a new provision introduced by the 2019 amendment,

as it was already part of the original 1993 Act.

मानवाधिकार संरक्षण संशोधन अधिनियम 2019 के तहत कई बदलाव किए गए। इसमें राज्य मानवाधिकार

आयोग के अध्यक्ष और सदस्यों का कार्यकाल 5 साल से घटाकर 3 साल या 70 वर्ष की आयु कर दिया गया।

अध्यक्ष और सदस्यों की पुनर्नियुक्ति का प्रावधान जोड़ा गया और उच्च न्यायालय का न्यायाधीश भी अध्यक्ष बनने

के योग्य हो गया। लेकिन आयोग में एक अध्यक्ष और दो सदस्य का प्रावधान पहले से ही था, यह 2019 के

संशोधन से संबंधित नया प्रावधान नहीं है। यह मूल अधिनियम 1993 में ही था।
