The Shekhawati Brigade was established in 1835 with the aim of maintaining peace and
order in the Shekhawati region. Its headquarters was located in Jhunjhunu. While the British
justified the brigade's necessity by citing the presence of bandits and robbers in the area, its
actual objective was to control trade routes in Shekhawati and expand British influence in
Rajputana. It was the first brigade of British India.
शेखावाटी में शांति और व्यवस्था बनाए रखने के नाम पर शेखावाटी ब्रिगेड की स्थापना 1835 में की गई थी। इसका मुख्यालय झुंझुनूंमें रखा गया था। अंग्रेजों ने कहा था कि शेखावाटी में डाकू और लुटेरे हैं इसलिए शांति के लिए ब्रिगेड जरूरी है लेकिन इसका असली उद्देश्य शेखावाटी के व्यापारिक मार्गों पर नियंत्रण करना और राजपूताना में अंग्रेजी प्रभाव बढ़ाना था। यह ब्रिटिश भारत की पहली ब्रिगेड थी।
