The Rajasthan State Election Commission was constituted on July 1, 1994. The State

Election Commissioner is appointed by the Governor on the advice of the State Council of

Ministers; however, it is not mandatory for the Commissioner to be a retired High Court judg

—any person with administrative experience can be appointed to the post. The

Commissioner's tenure is for five years or until the age of 65, whichever is earlier.
