Duties of the Sarpanch include convening and presiding over meetings of the Gram Sabha, safeguarding
the records of the Gram Panchayat, and exercising administrative supervision and control over the staff of
the Gram Panchayat. Additionally, the Sarpanch is responsible for providing reports and records to the
State Government as and when required. It is noteworthy that the Sarpanch serves as the chairperson of
the Gram Panchayat Planning and Coordination Committee, and also acts as the ex-officio chairperson of
the Gram Panchayat’s standing committee constituted for administration and institutional matters.
सरपंच के कर्तव्य - ग्राम सभा की बैठक बुलाना एवं अध्यक्षता करना। ग्राम पंचायत के अभिलेखों की रक्षा करना। ग्राम पंचायत
के कर्मचारियों पर प्रशासनिक पर्यवेक्षण एवं नियंत्रण रखना। समय-समय पर राज्य सरकार को प्रतिवेदन एवं अभिलेख उपलब्ध
करवाना। उल्लेखनीय है कि सरपंच ग्राम पंचायत नियोजन एवं समन्वय समिति का अध्यक्ष तथा प्रशासन और संस्थान के लिए
गठित ग्राम पंचायत की स्थायी समिति का पदेन अध्यक्ष होता है।
