Question

A governor is said to be isochronous, when its equilibrium speed ________ at rotation at all radii of ball.

एक गवर्नर को समकालिक कहा जाता है, जब गेंद की सभी पर घूर्णन त्रिज्याओं  पर इसकी संतुलन गति ________ होती है।

A.

is constant

B.

is not constant

C.

varies uniformly

D.

varies non-uniformly

Answer ( Option A)

is constant

Solution

(i) A governor with range of speed zero is known as isochronous governor.

(ii) This means that for all positions of the sleeve on the balls the governor has the same equilibrium speed.

(iii) Any change in speed results in moving the balls and the sleeve to their too extreme position.

(iv) However, on isochronous governor is not practically possible due to friction at the sleeve.

Hence, the correct option is (A).
