In a water-tube
boiler, the flue gas flows through the followingaccessories:
1. Super-heater
2. ID Fan
3. Air heater
4. Economizer
Which of the
following gives the correct sequence of the flue gas through these accessories?
1, 2, 3, 4
3, 1, 4, 2
1, 4, 3, 2
1, 3, 2, 4
1, 4, 3, 2
In a
water-tube boiler, the flue gas flows through the different accessories in
following sequence :
Super-heater
→ Economizer → Air heater → ID Fan (Induced Draft Fan)
Super-heater :A super-heater is a device used to convert saturated steam or wet steam into superheated steam or dry steam which is used in steam turbines for electricity generation, steam engines and in processes such as steam reforming. It increases the efficiency and decreases the moisture content.
Economizer :It
is used to reduce energy consumption by recycling energy produced within a
system or leverage environmental temperature differences to achieve efficiency
improvements.
Air pre-heaters :
These are basically heat-exchangers installed in the exit flue gas duct of
the boiler. The purpose of the air preheater is to recover the
heat from the boiler flue gas which increases the thermal efficiency
of the boiler by reducing the useful heat lost in the flue gas.
Induced Draft
(ID) fans : Used in systems such as steam boilers and thermal
oil heaters to draw out and remove flue gases from combustion chambers, by
creating a vacuum of negative air pressure (typically -10 mm Hg).
Hence, the correct option is (C).
&Key Points:-
There are
three types of super-heaters : radiant, convection and separately fired.
