A.

Cornish is fire tube and Lancashire is water tube

B.

Cornish is water tube and Lancashire is fire tube

C.

Cornish has two fire tubes and Lancashire

D.

Lancashire has two fire tubes and Cornish has one

Answer ( Option D)

Lancashire has two fire tubes and Cornish has one

Solution

Lancashire boiler has two fire tubes of diameter up to 40% of the diameter of the shell. Flue gases pass through the fire tubes from side and bottom space. The water level inside the drum is always above the side channels of the flue gases, so more heat transfer to the water.

Cornish boiler consists of a single internal fire tube. The fire grate (furnace) is at the front side of the tube and the coal goes through the fire hole into this grate.

Hence, the correct option is (D).
