(i) According to volumetric changes expanding and shrinkage nature and plasticity condition, minimum depth of the foundation of footing in clay soil is kept around 0.9 m(900 mm) deep beneath the soil where hard strata of soil have been found.
(ii) The minimum depth of footing on sandy soil is 0.8 - 1 m, for rocky soil.
