Consider the following statement:

Here, the load is applied through the centroid (not through the shear center), in a plane
perpendicular to the plane of symmetry.
1. Bending moment- Any transverse load on a beam causes bending moment.
2. Twisting moment- Since the load passes through the centroid but not through the shear
center (channel sections have shear center offset from centroid, outside the web), the
load's line of action doesn't align with the shear center
This creates an additional torque (twisting moment) = Load × (distance between centroid
and shear center).
3. Shear force- A transverse concentrated load always induces shear force in the beam.
4. Axial thrust- Since the load is applied through the centroid (not offset axially) and is
purely transverse (perpendicular to the beam axis), there is no axial force component.
