Solution

• Alumina (20–30%): Provides plasticity to brick earth and makes moulding easier.

• Silica (50–60%): Prevents shrinkage, cracking and warping and gives strength to bricks.

• Alkalis (<10%): Present only in a small quantity; excess alkalis may cause efflorescence and deformation
