                   spongy/swollen mass. 

• Efflorescence  : Caused by the presence of soluble alkaline salts (alkalis) in bricks.

• Chuffs : Caused when rainwater falls on hot bricks, resulting in deformation of their shape.

• Blisters : Blisters can be caused by air imprisoned during moulding.
