Solution

Slenderness ratio is the ratio of effective length of a member to the radius of gyration of the cross section about the axis under consideration.
As per clause 3.8 of IS 800 - 2007, maximum effective slenderness ratio (λmax) shall not exceed as following
here, KL = effective length of member
           r = appropiate radius of gyration
