Terzaghi's Analysis Assumes (Consolidation Theory)

Terzaghi's analysis assumes that:

1. The soil is homogeneous and fully saturated.
2. Soil particles and water are incompressible.
3. Compression and drainage occur only in the vertical direction (one-dimensional consolidation).
4. Darcy's law is valid throughout the consolidation process.
5. The coefficient of permeability remains constant.
6. The load is applied instantaneously and remains constant.
7. All volume change occurs due to the expulsion of pore water.
