The electrostatic stress in underground cable is
Same at the conductor and the sheath
Minimum at the conductor and maximum at the sheath
Maximum at the conductor surface and
minimum at the sheath
Zero at the conductor as well as
sheath
Maximum at the conductor surface and
minimum at the sheath
The electrostatic stress in a cable is
not uniformly distributed. The potential gradient is inversely proportional to
the distance from the centre of cable. Hence it will be maximum at the surface
of the inductor and goes on decreasing unit it becomes minimum at the surface
of the sheath.
