Question

The most appropriate way of mitigating the problem of interference between power line and communication line is to :

A.

transpose the power line

B.

 transpose the communication line

C.

use double circuit power line

D.

 use bundled conductor power line

Answer ( Option A)

transpose the power line

Solution

If  line conductors are not equidistant from each other, the flux linkages and inductance of each phase are not same. The different inductance in each phase results in unequal voltage drops. In order to make equal the voltage drops we generally interchange the position of the conductor at regular interval along the line which is called as transposition. Transposition is done to reduce the radio interference of line with communicating line.
