Which of the following statements is/are true for igneous rocks?
(i) Extrusive igneous rocks have formed by rapid cooling of magma at the surface
(ii) Plutonic igneous rocks have formed by the slow cooling of great volumes of magma, typically at depths
of a few kilometres of bottom within the Earth.
Statement (i) – True: Extrusive (volcanic) igneous rocks are formed when molten material reaches the
Earth's surface and cools rapidly. Due to rapid cooling, these rocks generally have a fine-grained texture.
Statement (ii) – True: Plutonic (intrusive) igneous rocks are formed when large masses of magma cool
and solidify slowly at considerable depths below the Earth's surface. Slow cooling allows the formation of
large mineral crystals, producing a coarse-grained texture
